California law mandates that each divorcing spouse or partner become self sufficient within a reasonable time after divorce proceedings begin.  If this does not occur, the other spouse or partner can request that the court issue a “seek work” order, which orders the unemployed spouse or partner to go on a certain number of face to face work interviews every week and provide written proof of these interviews, plus whatever other orders may be appropriate to maximize chances of finding gainful employment.  If employment is not obtained within a reasonable time through the fault of the unemployed spouse or partner, then what happens?  Stay tuned for the answer within ten days.
